988This week-end is the start of my “run up to Christmas” the dried fruit is soaking in apple juice ready for my Apple mincemeat. The kids never really liked the taste of the shop bought jars and it’s now become one of this houses traditions.
Sunday will see me make my puddings and cake. “Too late!” I hear you all cry but with one of my most loved recipe books entitled ‘We’ll Eat Again’ published by The Imperial War Museum a good few years ago, (You can see by the state of the page how well used it is) I make versions with so much less fat and sugar, that they don’t keep as well as any other. Go to Mrs Beeton and you could be making and storing in September!
This book full of recipes, hints and tips from world war 2 is cover to cover packed with things to stretch the smallest of stock cupboards.
